Excessive body sweating is not always cause for alarm. Your body has about 2700 square inches of skin which is largely utilized for sweating. Sweat is part of your thermoregulatory systems. Sweating evaporates off the skin and cools your body. This is a good thing.

Excessive body sweating however can simply mean that your body is sweating beyond what is normal to provide cooling. Situations causing an emotional response like nervousness, anger, embarrassment and fear can cause body sweating.

If your excessive body sweating is accompanied by depression, anxiety, heart palpitations, dizziness or shortness of breath, you may wish to consider seeing a physician. Try to avoid spicy foods, get plenty of exercise and avoid antidepressants that can cause sweating. If you are overweight, you will want to get on a good regiment of diet and exercise.

However, if the excessive sweating is accompanied by fever, weight loss, chest discomfort, shortness of breath or heart palpitations, other causes should be considered.
